Capturing Video

Once you press the Start Capture button all the action is in front of the camera but Pro8 has some nice features that make it an even more powerful feedback tool.

The Capture Max option allows you to set how long it will capture for. It means you don’t have to be next to the computer to press Stop Capture all the time.

The Time Shifting option is a very simple but incredible powerful tool. When using Time Shifting, you just set the time-delay (e.g. 5 seconds), click the Set button and then watch the delayed playback.

This means the client can watch what they just did, try it again, and again, and so the instant feedback loop goes on, all without touching the computer at all.

If you do decide to start capturing while Time Shifting is enabled, whatever appears on the screen while you are capturing is what is saved to file.

Note: Time Shifting does add a significant load onto your computer. If your computer struggles you will get warning messages on the screen. If that occurs:

  1. Your first action should be to close all other applications and try again.
  2. If that does not work drop the frame rate.
  3. If that does not work use Standard Definition (SD).
  4. If that does not work you need a more powerful computer.
